RACE REPORT: GKK RACEWAY – TRI-STATE SERIES
Written By: Walters Web Design
2/18/08 (St. Louis, MO) It started out grim, but our wheel man and heck of a crew chief (Dad) got it together to make it an awesome weekend that by the way ended at 2:00 A.M. due to transponder delays.
In Blue Heavy, we had a terrible qualifying effort. We ended up 16th in a strong field of 24. In Blue Lite, we ended up 8th out of a 24 kart field. In Pro Blue, we ended up 10th out of a 24 kart field.
This was the first Tri-State series race and this is a championship Ryan has a strong desire to try and capture this season. As I said, the talents of our young driver and decisions made on behalf of the crew members, we made the right decisions in preparing for the main features.
In Blue Heavy, Ryan was a rocket ship. Starting 16th, in a 15 lap feature, he came to a beautiful 4th place finish. We merely ran out of time not stamina.
In Blue Lite, Starting 8th, Ryan the Rhino came to 2nd with two laps to go, and on the white flag lap, he rocketed by the leader for the WIN!
In Pro Blue, Starting 10th, Ryan the Rhino was on a roll ending up 2nd in a 15 lap feature, again a matter of running out of laps not stamina.
To start out with such poor qualifying, the thing with Ryan is he never loses focus and always says the race isn’t over till the checkered flag drops. He showed us and a huge crowd of spectators at one of the biggest races of the season that he was bound and determined to start his Tri-State season out with some positive finishes.
