RACE REPORT: LIBERTY RACEWAY PARK – N.C. DIRT SERIES
Written By: Ryan Heavner Racing
8/25/08 Saturday’s events were definitely something to be proud of. As Ryan qualified for the Blue Lite race, we qualified 7th with a 13.211 to a pole of 12.802. As the feature event began, Ryan was focused and determined to take his Phantom Icon to a feature victory and he did just that within 20 laps. He earned this race with some hard driving because his fellow competitors did not give it to him. This race was full of very hard-charging teams that wanted to end their season on a positive note as well.
As the Blue Heavy qualifying came around, we qualified 3rd (Much Better), with a 12.892 to a pole of 12.866. Ryan really does not mind a 3rd place starting position, when he can’t get a pole, we always hope for a 3rd to grab the inside on the start of the feature. As the feature event started, Ryan took the lead about 1/3 into the race and never looked back. We brought home double victories this weekend, but more than anything a double championship that he has worked tremendously hard to achieve this year with the competition he has to contend with.
We want to thank THE LORD for always riding with us, keeping his mercy around Ryan and allowing us to do what we love to do!!! WAY TO GO RYAN-O!!!!!
Next weekend, we are off to Georgia for the final Tri-State race and try to wrap up at least one championship within this series. It is extremely close, so we’ll try to go forward with a positive attitude and with the Lord as our crew chief, possibly we can pull this one off as well.
