RACE REPORT: CONWAY, SC – LUCAS OIL
Written By: Ryan Heavner Racing
11/4/08 Saturday was a beautiful day for racing in Conway, SC for a Lucas Oil show. Ryan unloaded with bad luck as three short laps into round two of practice he blew his motor. We strapped on the backup and without practice or a chance to really tune the motor Ryan qualified 5th in a 19 kart field.
When the green flag dropped on the main event, we knew it was going to be a nail biting race. The lead was changed several times and several cautions flags flew. At the end of the 20 laps feature it was a four driver battle for the victory. Going into turn three Ryan was in 3rd position and as he came out of turn four for the final time he was in a 4 wide baqttle to the finish line, we came home with a victory margin of only .0008 of a second. That was truly an exciting race to watch and Ryan still can’t tell us exactly how he won. Either way, we will take them any way we can get them.
Sunday was also a beautiful day for racing, we qualified 9th on Sunday, and just couldn’t mojo the Tod Miller powered Icon to another victory, we came home in 7th with a good effort in a 20 kart field.
The highlight of the weekend was first of all, one of Ryan’s true fans attended both days of racing Mr. Kenneth A. and we would like to thank him for his friendship and support of the Ryan Heavner Racing Team. We hope to see Kenneth again very soon. Also, we would like to congratulate our engine builder Mr. Tod Miller on his $8,000.00 Lucas Oil Victory Sunday, we are proud to be part of the Tod Miller Powered family.
Ryan will conclude his karting season in Carnesville, Georgia for the Thanksgiving Thunder race over the Thanksgiving Holidays. The Jr. Big Dog is the final event of the year, and we hope to bring home a Jr. Big Dog Champion.
Ryan Heavner would like to thank all their current business partners for their continued support to both the team and racing.
