RACE REPORT: DILLION, SC – DILLION MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Written by: Ryan Heavner Racing
LINCOLNTON, NC – (June 2, 2009) After working until 1 AM on Saturday morning putting in a new motor for the Ryan Heavner machine, we took off for Dillion, SC. We qualified rather poorly at 6th. However, when the green flag dropped on the main event, Ryan and another competitor were the focus of the entire race. It was a constant battle for over 1/2 of the race, when Ryan finally got by him he then had his sights set on the 3rd place runner and began reeling him in rather quickly. Going into turn one with about twelve laps to go, Ryan drove in a little too hard, got sideways, saved the Tarheel Granite, Lawing Marble Machine but lost a few spots.
Ryan was able to hard charge back to a 5th place finish, but he drove a very exciting race. “I had no doubt we had at least a second place finish today, had I not made a driver error” Ryan said. We were very pleased with Ryan’s performance this weekend and the way the car ran. The Heavner Racing team is now set to practice this upcoming weekend in the new Ryan Heavner Racing machine at the 1/4 mile oval in Concord, NC and try to get ready for the upcoming Summer Series on Wednesday night.
We are gradually improving each and every week, and Ryan is learning more and more as he continues to compete in the Pro Challenge Series. Keep watching and we will see what the summer has to offer the Heavner Racing Team.
