RACE REPORT: HICKORY, NC – HICKORY MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Written by: Ryan Heavner Racing
LINCOLNTON, NC – (October 20th, 2009) The 77 Machine of Ryan Heavner qualified 4th for the feature event at Hickory Motor Speedway. When the green flag dropped, Ryan immediately took a stab for 3rd place and held on for the first half of the 30 lap feature event until the lead car spun bringing out a caution on lap 16. Ryan came on the radio and told his crew chief that he was great getting in the corner, but they were pulling him coming off and he hoped to gain something with this re-start.
When the race restarted, Ryan stayed right with the leader, passing him for the lead coming off turn 2 on lap 18, giving the lead back over coming off turn 4. Ryan managed to stay in contention for 2nd until he was passed with about 5 laps to go. On the white flag lap, the 2nd place competitor came off of turn 4 wild and loose and Ryan checked up to avoid an accident remaining in 3rd with a third place finish. It was a good race for our team, we were a little off on gearing, but again…”That’s Racing”. Ryan wanted all the fans that supported him and came to watch to know that he truly appreciated weathering the cold to support him.
Ryan H eavner Racing will return to the track October 31st as the team heads for the 1/2 mile at Concord Motor Speedway in Concord, NC. See ya there.
