RYAN HEAVNER CONCLUDES 2010 SEASON WITH IMPRESSIVE STATS On USARFans.com

LINCOLNTON, NC (November 18, 2010) Taking on the supreme American racing series – The USAR Pro Cup Series – would be a daunting task for most teens, but not Lincolnton, North Carolina’s Ryan Heavner. The 14-year-old God-fearing wheel man set out to contend for a Rookie-of-the-Year title in the series, and that is just what he did.
With strong competition coming from an influx of young talent, Heavner battled one of his teen counterparts right down to the wire for the top rookie’s honor. He was a few points short in the end, but was proud of his valiant effort. However, the accomplished driver expects better from himself next season.
“I gained some awesome experience this season, and made some awesome acquaintances, which I learned a lot from,” Heavner said. “However, this season brought with it some ups as well as downs. To be completely honest, I am disappointed with the overall outcome of my season. I know what I am capable of and unfortunately, I was not able to showcase that.”
“[The Rookie-of-the-Year title] was a goal I truly wanted to accomplish,” Heavner continued. “Second was not my goal this season, but it is what it is.”
When asked about his best accomplishment of the year, Heavner quickly became more upbeat.
“Being the youngest driver to run a full Pro Cup season and give Kirk May Racing their best Pro Cup finish was my best specific accomplishment,” said Heavner. “I gained an awesome fan base with the exposure that Pro Cup racing provides and I had the opportunity to race at so many different venues. We ran flat tracks, short tracks, mile-long tracks, and more. That’s not to mention the level of competition [in the USAR Pro Cup Series]. That level of competition will challenge you in each event.”
Heavner has now completed over 2000 laps in a Pro Cup car. Although he is not sure what the future holds, he feels that experience, and a new feel for the series’ BF Goodrich tire, could lead to performances that are more aggressive and a top-ten result in the championship standings.
Following a successful debut season in Pro Cup, Heavner says that he believes he is building a better understanding of the heavier, perimeter chassis car, which will only help propel any team he drives for in the future to victory lane.
Moving forward, Heavner and his family are scouting the best opportunities for the 2011 racing season and beyond. While they lean towards a second season in the highly competitive USAR Pro Cup Series, they are not willing to discount any possibilities at this time. The only thing for certain is that Heavner is set for a stellar 2011 racing season, and any sponsor and team that goes along for the ride is sure to enjoy success.
“I will always continue to P.U.S.H (Pray until something happens), because I know that God has great things in store for me,” Heavner exclaimed. “I would like to sincerely thank my Mom and Dad for their dedication and support to my career, especially since my Mom’s business burned in the summer. Things have been really trying, but she has faith that everything will work out, and she was my biggest supporter personally as well as financially. And of course, all this could not have been possible had Kirk May and The KMR Team not have believed in me enough to give me a chance. I will forever be grateful to Mr. May and his team for the 2010 race season. They have backed me and supported me 110%.”
“I can’t wait to find out what the new year has in store for my family and myself,” concluded Heavner. “I know God will provide and we will be ready to receive His blessings and use them to the best of our abilities.”
