RYAN HEAVNER FINISHES 7TH AT THE MOTOR MILE SPEEDWAY
LINCOLNTON, NC (JUNE 2ND, 2012) After six months or more of being out of the seat, Ryan was super excited to see the Motor Mile this past weekend. He tested on Thursday with the team, and broke a rear-end, they worked so hard and way late on Friday to get things ready for Saturday.
On Saturday, after three rounds of practice, during the 3rd practice, we turned our fastest lap time of 16.8 for the day, and that was in the heat of the day and the track was really hot. However, we needed about 2/10 to be where the fastest cars were during practice.
During Qualifying, Ryans first lap was a 16.7 and he was on target to hopefully pick up a few more tenths during his second lap until coming out of four where he spun his tires, and he remained at a 16.7 and did not pick it up, putting us at the 9th quickest.
During the first half of the race, Ryan maintained and managed at half time to be in 8th place. With the 10 minute CARS intermission, it was drawn that the top 8 would start in the back as they finished the first half so the hopes of starting in a better position did not go in our favor.
After making a track bar adjustment, and bolting on 4 new tires, the second half Ryan finds himself liking the way his car felt. He had a slight problem in 3 and 4 with the cross member being a little two low and he was dragging the car as he entered the turn which upset his driving somewhat, but he ran on for 125 more laps and even gained another postion to bring the Bleeding Cross, Jeffs Auto Sales, and PUSH Foundation Chevrolet to a 7th place finish.
Ryan is so looking forward to the next event and hoping that with the help of his foundation and its supporters, he will be able to finish this Pro Cup Series season, one race at a time…..
